Hexagon Patchwork Pattern 

Fibonacci Elgin

The photographs show this design made with Fibonacci Hexagons - sizes 1,2,3,5, and 8

This design would work very well using regular sized hexagons.

I created this handsewn patchwork quilt back in 1989 - it comprises of approximately 2840 hexagons - its an addictive stress busting challenge that will result in a wonderful family heirloom.

The actual size of the original "Fibonacci Elgin" Quilt is approximately 55" (140cm) depth and 65.5" (167cm) width   The fabric I used is glazed cotton chintz.

If 3cm regular hexagons are used the depth would be approximately 55" (140cm)

 Alternatively you could experiment with fibonacci hexagons which would make it smaller or larger than the original quilt.

Using Hexagons in Patchwork by Jackie Wills

The first edition of this booklet was sold on the internet between 2004 - 2007,  it was sold in A5 format and comprised of 28 x A5 pages. 

Further to the success of the first edition, the second updated edition is now available in draft A4 form. 

This is a self produced publication and most definitely not perfect printing or styling, thats why I am calling it a "draft" copy - it may seem amateurish to some, however its the content that matters!  If this concerns you please do not purchase.

This second edition comprises of 40 pages - plastic ring bound with plastic see through front cover and cardboard back cover.

Basically the content tells briefly of my life journey with hexagons (38 years) - how hexagons shaped my life etc etc, what inspired me, fibonacci hexagons, plus giving lots of practical advice and ideas on hand sewing with hexagons.  Also a bit of history etc.  

It includes lots of colour images and diagrams, grids to design your own work plus reproduced articles that I have had published over the years. 

Publication is printed on 90gsm paper - to keep costs down the digital images are acceptable but not best top notch quality.   If this presents a problem after purchase I could email some (not all) images to you.
